Without the warmth of the sun
Walking along the beach with the threat of rain clouding the sky, something somebody had earlier spent time to create, broke the speeding circles of the subconscious prattle in my mind and made me stand still for a moment.
Walking the beach on ones own always emulates feelings of solitude
(unless you have a dog), and of course, the feeling is generally reinforced by all the couples strolling hand in hand.
This little structure however (pictured above), seemed just as solitary as myself, regardless of the connotations of its shape.
So the defining moment of my dusky walk on the beach, was the company of somebody’s abandoned art. Which I too, after not so many moments, abandoned.
A simple sadness without substance
Memories lingering and lurking
Dark smudges on the day
Somebody I saw in passing
Bad days are pretty unavoidable
Being able to find an uplifting frivolity (if not an ironic ridiculousness) through it all can somehow make the day more bearable. In this case for me, relief came in the form of a materialistic possession. New boots! Every time I looked down, I had to smile.
How not to do this
Breaking in a tight new pair of stilettos on a long day out or at work… could add to the potential misery of a bad day e.g. being momentarily crippled.
