A mermaid is a legendary aquatic creature with the upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks and drownings. In other folk traditions (or sometimes within the same tradition), they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans.
There once was a time that I didn’t just listen to what I enjoyed, I only listened to what I enjoyed in the genre of what my social demographic considered to be acceptable.
I knew I was completely free of caring about that nonsense when my i-pod shuffle played Billy Ray Cyrus while I was driving to get dinner on a second date with a gorgeous lad that I was into… the metal-head in me would have been mortified.
Instead, I sang along. Oh sweet freedom! HEAR ME NOT GIVE A ****
I think the idea was, these women are trying so hard to hold in their anger and frustration, that if they open their eyes for a moment or show one small sign of emotion they will explode.

I came across a reminder of a childhood habit today
Enhancing the images of models and personalities in magazines and newspapers. Admittedly, it was usually the addition of a curly mustache and beard. But this was reminiscent enough.
I still get a giggle when I see a mutilated photo in a waiting room magazine. Whether its an addicted creative, smart arse kid, desperately bored client or a compulsive rebel.
Good on you, who ever you are.
